‘Whatever you do [whatever your task may be], work from the soul [that is, put in your very best effort], as [something done] for the Lord and not for men, knowing [with all certainty] that it is from the Lord [not from men] that you will receive the inheritance which is your [greatest] reward. It is the Lord Christ whom you [actually] serve. ‘ Colossians 3:23-24 AMP
Maybe this season has tempted you to slack on your duties because of the work from home setup. You find yourself starting to dread your routine in this new normal work environment. Maybe you got away with it the first time, and now it has become a habit. Whilst this may feel ‘comfortable’, remember you report to God. One thing that has kept me afloat and from compromising in my walk of faith is keeping my eyes on the Lord. If whatever I do is pleasing to God, nothing else matters. It doesn’t matter what naysayers say, it doesn’t matter what doors close, it doesn’t even matter what environment I operate in.
Sounds reckless? How can I not care about the environment when all the world is in chaos because of the pandemic? Would you believe me if I told you that, throughout this pandemic, I have not stopped working? Whilst I might have lost my job, I was still at work. Of course, there are days when I feel overwhelmed, but I have not stopped. You know why? The Lord ministered to me that my purpose is for such a time as this, my gifts are relevant during this pandemic too. Whilst men may say otherwise, and try to confine me to other pursuits that ‘work’, all that I am furnished with comes from God. Therefore, it is God that I report to.
Today God is encouraging you too. The pandemic is no surprise to Him. If there was no need for your story, gifts, your voice there would be no purpose for you. As long you are reading this, God has called you to serve Him in a specific sphere. Discover what that is today and do it!
