When it’s taking to long to get to the promised land

Trust in the LORD with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know. Remember the LORD in everything you do, and he will show you the right way. ‘ Proverbs 3:5-6 GNB

With the ongoing pandemic and its consequences, a lot of uncertainty has been introduced in our lives. Maybe your plans have been put on hold until all is clear (yet you are unsure when that will be). You may be wondering when your dreams will come to fruition. Maybe God has spoken to you or showed you where you ought to be and what you ought to be doing but everything seems to delay.

God is saying to you and me:

Trust in Him with all your heart

You have been praying and fasting, again and again, breaking spiritual chains of bondage, staying up late working hard, and it still seems like the odds are stacked up against you. Your ‘happy’ place just seems to be taking longer than you anticipated. Maybe you are saying ‘Lord, I have done all I know to do but I cannot seem to experience the results you promise.’ Remember God is not phased by all of that is happening. He is not trying to ‘save’ His children from the pandemic, or change His plans for them to become more adaptable to the ‘new normal.’ If you are reading this now, He knew you would be alive in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Do not make room for doubt and fear as this will detour your trust. If God has promised it, He will fulfill it.

Do not lean on your own understanding

Do not be deceived by what you see. Not everything there is to this life is what you see. As believers, we are instructed to live by faith! In Isaiah 55:8 God says His thoughts are not our thoughts, neither are His ways ours. His thoughts and ways are higher than yours. Remember that your understanding and perception is inadequate and limited unless it comes from God who reveals it through His Spirit.

In all you ways acknowledge Him

Whatever you do, put God at the center and get His approval. Have you been doing this of late; in your marriage, job, business, with your children, in fulfilling your purpose? What makes us detour or weary in carrying out our assignment, even a day’s work, is forgetting the function of the Holy Spirit in our lives. As a guide to all truth, have you sought His guidance lately?

I encourage you to trust in God with everything you have and do. Do not allow doubt to shadow your God-given vision or dreams. Do not rely on what you think, see, or hear. Instead, trust in God who is mighty and more powerful. God is not limited by the restrictions on earth!
