At a time when fake news is high on the rise, the one thing that people seek is truth. That truth is found in the Word of God. How then can one decipher what is true and what isn’t, especially when all sources seem ‘honest’? Furthermore, the bible tells us that the enemy masquerades himself as an angel of light. This means what may seem like a good gift, is not always God-given. Here is what you need to know, the bible also gives us an indicator of what truth looks like. It comes with freedom. Anything else will torment us and fill us with fear, discouragement, and hurt.
‘We couldn’t be more sure of what we saw and heard— God’s glory, God’s voice. The prophetic Word was confirmed to us. You’ll do well to keep focusing on it. It’s the one light you have in a dark time as you wait for daybreak and the rising of the Morning Star in your hearts.’ 2 Peter 1:19 MSG
In the same way, our study text reassures us that the Word of God is truth. Peter was one of the three that witnessed the transfiguration of Christ. What Peter witnessed at that moment, backs up everything that had been spoken by the prophets. We might not have lived when Jesus walked the earth, but neither did the prophets who foretold Jesus’ coming. And because Jesus is alive in us through the Holy Spirit who leads us into all truth, we have a tremendous advantage.
His word is truth. It’s the one light you have in a dark time as you wait for daybreak [whether this is a crisis situation you are currently facing or as you wait on the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ]. Whether you received it in your prayer closet, in a dream, during a fast, through a friend or someone of authority, or it was a promise or exhortation in the scriptures. His Word is unchanging.
You are everything God says you [uniquely] are. This means your identity and purpose lie nowhere outside of God’s jurisdiction. You can do everything He says you can do. Lest you forget, you have authority and dominion over all the earth. You have everything God says you have. This means all you need to fulfill your purpose on earth is found in you. The trajectory of your life is going where He says it will go.
Get knowledge and understanding of all that God says about you and your life. Whatever crisis or discouragement you are experiencing in your personal life, counter that with the truth of God’s word and pair that with consistent faith!
The word of God works always
When people tell you, “Try out the fortunetellers. Consult the spiritualists. Why not tap into the spirit-world, get in touch with the dead?” Tell them, “No, we’re going to study the Scriptures.” People who try the other ways get nowhere—a dead end! Frustrated and famished, they try one thing after another. When nothing works out they get angry, cursing first this god and then that one, Looking this way and that, up, down, and sideways—and seeing nothing, A blank wall, an empty hole. They end up in the dark with nothing. Isaiah 8:19-22 MSG
It’s easy at points of desperation or crossroads for you to consider options that you wouldn’t otherwise consider under normal circumstances. It can be believing God for a job, financial increase, breakthrough in your career, marriage, restoration of your marriage, or even trying to have children. You may find yourself going to great lengths to do what men say works.
Let me share a story. I remember a time when God had specifically spoken about the promise of marriage. Everything was starting to come along as promised then as though something shifted in the spiritual realm, everything started to go the opposite direction. I remember praying and asking God what that meant. I even shared with a friend who gave me a book on prayers against rejection. I remember doing those prayers the first day.
On the second day as I was having my usual morning prayers, I heard God tell me to stop. He clearly told me there was no need to pray those prayers as He has the situation under control. What seemed like a good deed wasn’t exactly what it was.
Sometimes we go to great lengths seeking advice from people who have the knowledge but do not possess the promise either. Or assumed gurus who motivate you to become this great success and yet their lives do not reflect what they teach. Here is what God is encouraging you and me today. Let us go back to the Word, which is truth. Everything else takes you in unending cycles and leads you nowhere.
Everything else but the world leaves you frustrated, exhausted, helpless, and confused. It’s God’s word, not fortune tellers, his word, not science, His word not worldly systems. God is your creator. He certainly knows what’s best for you more than you do. Choose to trust in Him
Today I challenge you to look for scripture that answers the challenges you are having. Here is what you need to understand about the power of the Word of God. It is Him speaking it. You releasing it brings it to manifestation.
