‘Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. ‘
2 Corinthians 1:9 NIV
Have you ever been at wit’s end not knowing how to get out? Don’t we all ask ‘why me’? Why things are not going as planned? Maybe today you are in a vicious cycle of despair, anxiety, discouragement, heartbreak, hurt, fear, and confusion over a lost job, a challenging marriage, an exam you have to write, the health of a loved one, etc. Paul and Timothy were there too. They were so convinced that they would die. They had everything right and exhausted all they knew to do but the fear of death had gripped them.
Many at times it doesn’t make sense at that moment, how everything looks. Our feelings tend to overwhelm us and we see nothing good come out of the situation we are in. But this right here, [today in your life], is happening so that you do not rely on yourself, but on God who is able to deliver you from the outcome of what you anticipate. Therefore, the reason ‘it’ happened was so that you could see God as greater than not just your present situation but also our future prediction. If you are facing failure, rejection, divorce, death, poverty, sickness as the potential outcome of whatever situation you are in today, know this, God is calling you to depend on Him more than you do on yourself. God is asking you to trust Him with all of your heart. Today, be encouraged to see God beyond your current circumstance, but also as a deliverer of future fears.
