Have you ever wondered what Christmas is all about? As most of the world celebrates this holiday as probably just another holiday. It is not just a holiday, but a special day that you can celebrate as a significant event in your life. Christmas is really about Jesus Christ and God’s love for you.
1 John 3:1 says ” See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.”
Knowing this one thing can change your life for good. You are the reason Jesus was born.
Even if you were the only person on earth, Jesus would still have come. This truth is a reality that we should all come to terms with. Christians may commonly celebrate His birth into the world, and the world also joins them at this. But to what end? Because God loved the world.
This means that Jesus really loves me as the only person on earth. He was not born or did not come because we are many here on earth. He came because He loved me and you. God was seeking a closer relationship with His people. And the only way He could do this was by coming so that He could be close to his people and they could be close to Him and experience Him in a one-to-one relationship. So God sent His only Son to this world, to demonstrate His love for all mankind, and that includes you and I and the rest of the world. He loves us equally the same, that’s why He came.
In John 3:16 the bible says, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” ESV
Imagine if you had a valuable item, that gets lost. Will you try looking for it? How valuable is it to you? If it was only one out of ten valuable things that you had, why would you look for it? The reason you’ll look for it is that it’s still valuable too. The value God placed on you is not because of the numbers.
It’s because of the value that He has placed on you and in you.
My celebration of Christmas is the celebration of the love of God for me.
You have to understand that He loves you as the only person on earth. His love is there for you to accept each and every day that you live.
He gave us the life of God. Brought us into oneness with him. He came to make us His sons. Life eternal, and washing away of sins was the beginning of it all. Now we have the very nature and life in us. And you can enjoy that nature and life if you constantly remind yourself of His love for you.
This is what the opening scripture echoes. Meditate on His love for you. Take time to thank God, for coming just for you. Pray and thank Him. Because you are that special. That’s what you should always remember during Christmas. It was more than just His birth, but what He came to do for all mankind.
As the word says, before I formed you, I knew you. And I had plans for you.
Sometimes people entertain what the world says about them, more than what God thinks about them. Because the world does not know them, as much as it does not know God, they still succumb to that. Never accept that! Never entertain thoughts of loneliness, rejection, hatred, cyberbullying, feeling outcast, and all. You are the beloved of God. It doesn’t matter who has said what, to you or what has happened to you. Remind yourself that Jesus came for me because He loves me. You have to soak in it and imagine it and enjoy this love to the full. It is an endless and immeasurable love!
This is the true meaning of Christmas. That I will be filled with all the fullness of God. That the spots will be cleansed away. Every weakness is gotten rid of. Every wrinkle, and issue will be removed.
Apostle Paul explained this well when he said, “And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:14 NIV
Jesus is all the fullness of God. What God has always wanted is that you’ll be filled with the fullness of God. Just as Jesus was filled with the fullness of God. That begins by how well and deep you comprehend His love for you. That’s why He says, “being rooted and established in love”.
That’s why the fullness of the Godhead should dwell in you. During Christmas don’t only celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ into the world, embrace His coming and His love for you. It surpasses anything you could ever know. And when you do, Christmas will take a whole new meaning in your life.
Don’t just end there, but may this same love that you get to know more and more each year, be the love that you share with others you meet in life.
