‘For I am convinced [and continue to be convinced—beyond any doubt] that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present and threatening, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the [unlimited] love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.’ Romans 8:38-39 AMP
Joseph was doomed to rot in prison over something he did not do. He spent approximately ten-plus years of his life serving faithfully in prison. Imagine 10 years of your life nowhere near what God said you would be. Years lost not because of your own decisions but because of a lie and false accusation. What we sometimes miss from the whole story is the season Joseph was in. Usually, when we go through trying seasons, God uses those to prepare and mold us for the next season. And this was no different for Joseph. God had spoken to Joseph in a dream and had shown him vividly how his life would turn out. He would one day rule over his father and brothers. However, what he did not anticipate was a pit and Potiphar’s wife before the palace.
The time spent in Potiphar’s house was a momentary glimmer of hope amidst the betrayal and jealousy from his own family. However, he ended up forgotten behind bars after being faithful to both his master and God. How can anyone ever recover from that? One may even question God’s love for Joseph to allow all these things to befall him. Sometimes we find ourselves bruised, weary and discouraged after we have done everything the right way. Our lives take the opposite direction and we hit a downfall spiral.
God is encouraging you today that no matter what season you are in, nothing will separate you from His love. Whether it’s a deep dark pit of guilt and regret, the prison of stagnation or living out your best life in the palace. God extends His lovingkindness and favour, as He did with Joseph.
