A wealth transfer: The inheritance of a good man

Wealth Transfer

‘A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just. ‘ Proverbs 13:22 KJV

Our theme scripture gives us the perfect example of what wealth transfer in the bible looks like. The Israelites had been in bondage for 430 years. They were slaves to the Egyptians for a long time. However, what they did not realize is they had invested in their own generational wealth. The Bible says The Lord made the Egyptians respect the Israelites so that they gave them EVERYTHING they asked for. Imagine that!

Let me put a disclaimer here, this is no ticket for Christians to think they can simply take with no work. The Israelites were working. Although, under oppression, the wealth transfer that happened was because they had been working. It did not end there. God caused the Canaanites to prosper so the Israelites would take over what they had built. Here is what we learn from this, every promise of God comes with a condition. Working knowledge of revelation.

Are believers entitled to wealth transfer?

How is it then that both the Egyptians and Canaanites prospered whilst God’s children suffered? What is it that gives non-believers an upper hand on this wealth thing? They understand the laws of prosperity, that’s for sure. Privileged as we are, God has guaranteed us prosperity as one of the package benefits of the Kingdom. However, not many of us are willing to search the scriptures, and learn the laws and apply them. We would rather fast and pray till we are blue, and expect a miracle. That is not how it works.

In the new covenant, God tells us that he has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness. But how come I do not have all those things scripture says God has given me, you may ask. Read carefully the last part of this scripture, which we sometimes miss out on because of the excitement of the promise. He says through knowledge of him. The knowledge of God comes through the study of His Word to reveal Kingdom laws.

The Kingdom of heaven consists of laws that govern success in all respects for the believer. We have the advantage, and our success is predictable based on our ability to apply the Word of God. Wealth transfer from one realm to the next is only possible when one applies the laws that govern it. Although the methods of prosperity used by some men are sometimes malicious, deceitful, and crooked. The laws of prosperity apply to all. However, this study text shows us that whoever violates these laws shall fall subject to losing his wealth.

God is encouraging us to focus on more than ourselves. He wants us to create generational wealth using Kingdom Laws and time-tested biblical principles of investing. The term sinner refers to one who is selfish, and conceited in their pursuit of wealth. This causes them to lose it to those who honor and reverence God. That’s you. Opportunities are available everywhere all the time for you to take your place of dominion. Go and change the narrative for your family. Look for investment and business opportunities that will secure your children’s and grandchildren’s lives. Imagine if our parents had done this, what would our lives look like today?

You were born with a silver spoon in your mouth!

‘ You can tell for sure that you are now fully adopted as his own children because God sent the Spirit of his Son into our lives crying out, “Papa! Father!” Doesn’t that privilege of intimate conversation with God make it plain that you are not a slave, but a child? And if you are a child, you’re also an heir, with complete access to the inheritance.’ Galatians 4:6-7 MSG

I recently had a moment where I thought back to my life growing up. After my dad passed, things were never the same. I was five and my mum did everything she could to ensure we had a normal childhood. However, inside this little girl’s mind, life was far from normal, as my perspective on life changed. Whilst reflecting on these years, I heard the Holy Spirit say to me, “you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth”. Although I couldn’t evidently see any wealth transfer, the Spirit of God started to explain to me what He meant by this. How everything has happened, exactly how it should have.

Your wealth transfer might not have come by being born into a family with material wealth. However, your experience, failures, loss, and opportunities are a testament to the wealth of equipment you have been furnished with. Everything you need to fulfill God’s purpose for your life has always been available to you in every season.

In our text, God is reminding us that our relationship with Him through Christ forms the foundation of our identity. He wants us to move past the feelings and thoughts associated with a past we had no control over. Now is the time to let go of toxic ideas of what your life could have been. Choose to rejoice in what has become, because that is your silver spoon. We are God’s children, with full access to Kingdom benefits and rights to all spiritual blessings. Forget the past and embrace a silver spoon rebirth as a child of God!
